Scholarship application season is upon us. After the holidays and finals, high school students head into the final stretch. The last six miles of their primary educational marathon, and depending on who you talk to it’s a glorious home stretch or grueling one.
We realize there is a level of stress that’s very normal this time of year as some students anxiously await acceptance letters and some fret about how to pay for their upcoming collegiate experience. At our office, applications trickle in, then pour in, as the March 31, 2016 deadline quickly approaches for the Oregon Community Quarterback Scholarship. It’s a beautiful thing. Paper applications give us a chance to immerse ourselves in the lives and personalities of our emerging leaders. To see someone’s handwriting is to envision their process: sitting down to share with us why they should be selected for a unique scholarship/mentorship program in the state of Oregon.
We enjoy this part tremendously.
If you’re still unsure what we’re doing at the Foundation, we encourage you to read this piece published today by The Oregonian. We encourage you to get involved with the next generation. Talk to your student about the scholarship opportunities available. Connect with your child. Remind your niece or nephew there are options out there for financial aid, even to students who don’t have a 4.0.
And in case you missed it, scholarship applications are due March 31, 2016. Found out more: http://harringtonfamilyfoundation.org/scholarship/
