In 2014, under the direction of Joey Harrington, Harrington Family Foundation (HFF) established its Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship with the financial capability to support 16 students at $10,000 per student in perpetuity.  Through fundraising efforts over the years and a maturing endowment, we have had the privilege of increasing this scholarship to $16,000 per student, which is where it currently stood through 2021.

Safeway Albertsons has remained a vital community partner since the scholarship’s inception. Their 2021 Huddle Up for Oregon campaign that operated in Oregon Safeway and Albertsons store during the summer of 2021 proved to be an overwhelming success, raising $397,152.92 through in-store pin pad donations made by store patrons. Oregonians across the state generously invested in our program’s mission, a testament to the unwavering leadership and passionate civic engagement of HFF scholarship students.

Due to the generosity of our Oregon communities at large through Huddle Up for Oregon, the Harrington Family Foundation has the honor of making its second official scholarship increase for 16 students, raising the total scholarship commitment from $16,000 to $20,000 per student in perpetuity. Beginning August 2022 the Harrington Family Foundation with disburse $5,000 annual tuition payments to enrolled scholarship students.

The Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship is a renewable four-year collegiate scholarship program eligible for current Oregon high school seniors who are emerging leaders, and plan to attend an Oregon trade school, college or university. The program is intended to facilitate the growth of promising leaders in the state of Oregon by developing the skills needed to flourish their local communities.

In addition to the scholarship, each recipient will have a board of mentors available to them throughout and following their schooling to help guide their path to a successful career and future. By helping to open doors in the business sector, these emerging leaders will remain planted and invested in the state of Oregon.

This is a need-based scholarship with criteria focusing on an individual’s involvement in their community, rather than academic or athletic performance.

Applications for the 2022 Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship are due Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:59PM PST. Four scholarship recipients will be selected May 2022. Apply here.
