PORTLAND, Ore. — The Harrington Family Foundation (HFF) recently announced the launch of a new fundraiser to benefit the Oregon Community Leadership Scholarship. Harrington Family Foundation and Buffalo Trace Distillery have partnered to release a single barrel select bourbon in support of the Foundation’s scholarship-mentorship program.

The Bourbon Barrel Benefit (online raffle) will launch on November 6, 2022 with one very special grand prize: (1) 750ml bottle of Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23 Yr. Bourbon (Bottle #M2127), and (4) 750 ml bottles of Harrington Family Foundation Single Barrel Select (5-bottle grand prize retail value: $5495). Raffle tickets will be live here on November 6, 2022 at 12:01AM (PST).

This very rare, limited-edition Pappy Van Winkle Reserve 23 Year takes generations of distilling know-how and has aged for 23 years. This bourbon has early aromas of caramel and cream with soft notes of oak, nuts and leather. It features a sweet taste composed of vanilla, maple and honest joined by complimentary flavors of citrus and spice, and a long-lasting oaky finish, along with many of the early flavors.

Harrington Family Foundation’s single barrel was aged in 2022, a special selection by Joey Harrington, at Buffalo Trace Distillery: “Of all the barrels we tasted, this one was the most subtle, but also the most beautiful. It didn’t kick you in the nose, but rather asked you to be patient and let it develop in the glass. The identifiable Buffalo Trace scents of vanilla and molasses were present on the nose, but it was the smell of worn leather that made this barrel unique. While the palate contained the consistent notes of toffee and brown sugar, my professional counterpart said he tasted apple wood rather than oak. I told him it just tasted like a glass full of autumn! After what can only be described as a tasting journey, it was the finish that sold us. The mouth feel was velvet, edgeless and seemed to last forever. This barrel truly continued to get better the longer we sat with it which made it the perfect barrel for our foundation … in it for the long haul.”
