On one of the most perfect summer nights we’ve seen this year, Detroit Lions Quarterback and former Oregon Duck Joey Harrington presided over the Harrington Family Foundation’s highly successful outdoor concert, which was attended on July 1, 2004 by nearly two thousand enthusiastic fans. Produced by TAOW Productions, the event resulted in a $30,000 donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, one of the primary regional charities the Harrington Family Foundation supports.

Respectfully avoiding the spotlight, Harrington deftly jammed on piano during performances by Pat McGee Band and multi-platinum headliners Third Eye Blind. Fans said he turned in an impressive performance on the keys, while encouraging the audience to support the Foundation and the charities it assists. One attendee said “Joey’s become such a well rounded guy he plays hard, both on the field and on the stage, and he cares deeply about kids and the local community, we’re just glad to be able to help him in this great cause!” The event was taped by NFL Films, ESPN, The CBS Morning Show and was well attended and supported by local media.

Youngsters from Shriners Hospital and the audience joined Harrington and opener Pat McGee on stage for one song, adding to the family oriented nature of the evening. In connection with the event, TAOW also managed a fund-raising golf tournament and auction at Pumpkin Ridge, sponsored by West Coast Bank and a pre-concert reception and silent auction hosted by McCormick & Schmicks Seafood Restaurant. The auctions featured items autographed and donated personally by Harrington.

Said Harrington “At the end of the day, what matters most is attaining results. With the help of the sponsors and community, we were able to make a substantial contribution to the Shriners Hospital in support of the exceptional service they provide to kids with special needs. We also want to thank all of the people who helped bring this wonderful event together, including all the volunteers from the Shriners, Key Bank and Nike.”
